Our Motoring Department is led by Jacob Crook and Laura Farrell, who oversee each client’s case from initial instruction through to conclusion, working closely with our experienced team of solicitor advocates and barristers for all court representation.
While the firm was founded by Chris Rudd, who brings a powerful personal story and deep understanding of criminal defence, all motoring work is run day-to-day by Jacob and Laura. They are the specialists who guide, advise and represent our clients.

Jacob established the motoring department and has been instrumental in shaping its high standards and reputation. He oversees the quality of client care across the team and ensures every case receives the meticulous attention it deserves.
With years of dedicated experience in motoring law, Jacob applies specialist knowledge to any road traffic scenario — from straightforward speeding matters to complex, multi-issue cases. His philosophy is simple: leave no stone unturned.
Jacob manages his own caseload and will guide you from first instruction right through to the conclusion of your case.
He holds an LLB (Hons) and a Masters in Legal Practice.

Laura has dedicated over four years exclusively to motoring law, developing a deep understanding of the sector and a strong track record of guiding clients through a wide range of driving-related offences. Her approach is driven by a commitment to clarity, empathy and meticulous preparation. Our Founder, Chris Rudd
Momentum Solicitors was founded by Chris Rudd, whose path into law is anything but ordinary. Chris left college with almost no qualifications and spent his early twenties working as a van driver, enjoying rugby, friends and holidays – until a single incident at a Warrington Wolves final changed the direction of his life.
Caught in a misunderstanding at Elland Road, Chris was wrongly arrested and later faced exaggerated allegations in court. Representing himself, armed only with determination, honesty and a borrowed legal notepad. He cross-examined the officers, exposed the inconsistencies in their evidence and was acquitted.
It was the court clerk’s comment afterwards, “Have you ever thought about becoming a solicitor?”, that sparked a new ambition. After years of night school, university and training, Chris qualified as a solicitor at 32. His personal experience with injustice is the reason the firm values fairness, integrity and strong legal defence.
Today, Chris owns Momentum Solicitors, while entrusting the day-to-day running of our motoring department entirely to Jacob and Laura – the specialists dedicated to protecting the driving rights of everyday people.
